The "Marine Coastal and Delta Sustainability for South East Asia (MARE)" project sets goals to promote sustainable governance and management of coastal, delta & marine, socio-ecological systems in Malaysia, Viet Nam and adjacent waters through tertiary education. MARE is part of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union (EU) with the participation of 13 member institutions, including Vietnam Maritime University. The main coordinator of this project is the University of Bremen, Germany with the implementation period of 3 years, from 2020 to 2023. MARE offers different training activities: summer schools (large international open call training events hold annually), onsite seminars , webinars.
In 2022, the COME! Summer school was organized from 15th to 29th of August in Universiti Teknologi Petronas and Universiti Kuala Lumpur - MIMET in Malaysia. Participants were students and yound experts from MARE partners around the world. In the summer school, several interesting lectures on highly concerned global topics were delivered by speakers from various research institutions and universities in MARE network. Besides, participants also took part in site visits to Seri Tanjung Pinang 2, Tin Mine Cavern (Gua Tempurung) and Tin Dredge Mining to gain practical experience with construction technology and marine environment. Also, the summer school offered chances for attendances to widen the network with students, researchers from other MARE institution partners, and acquired lots of unforgetable memeries in Malaysia.
