MARE TACTUAL WORKSHOP ITALY, MAY 2023

The "Marine Coastal and Delta Sustainability for South East Asia (MARE)" project sets goals to promote sustainable governance and management of coastal, delta & marine, socio-ecological systems in Malaysia, Viet Nam and adjacent waters through tertiary education. MARE is part of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union (EU) with the participation of 13 member institutions, including Vietnam Maritime University. The main coordinator of this project is the University of Bremen, Germany with the implementation period of 3 years, from 2020 to 2023. MARE offers different training activities: summer schools (large international open call training events hold annually), onsite seminars , webinars.

In early 2023, MARE has organized TACTUAL workshop in Italy from 8th to 26th of May. Vietnam Maritime University has sent three lecturers and staffs and three students to partitipate in this workshop. There have been a veriaty of activities organized in this event, including a conference among MARE institutional partners discussing the training and research activities in MARE network; the introduction of research institutions, namely Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche – CNR, Institute for international legal studies – ISGI, Institute for the study of  Anthropic impact and Sustainability in the marine environment – IAS, and potentials of academic and research cooporation; experiences with Marine Spatial Planning – MSP and site visit at Institute for the study of  Anthropic impact and Sustainability in the marine environment – IAS. After the conference, VMU students have taken part in the TACTUAL workshop which delivers a chain of globally interested topics such as vessel noise pollution, marine pollution, legal matter in marine environment protection, etc. The workshop has brought great chances for VMU representatives to widen their knowledge related to marine environment and to strengthen the network with students, researchers from other MARE institution partners, and lots of unforgetable memeries in Italy.
