THE SECOND E-BOOK MEETING UNDER MARE PROJECT

The "Marine Coastal and Delta Sustainability for South East Asia (MARE)" project sets goals to promote sustainable governance and management of coastal, delta & marine, socio-ecological systems in Malaysia, Viet Nam and adjacent waters through tertiary education. As one of partner institutions, VMU has actively participated into joined academic and research activities carried out within MARE network.

In Vietnam, in order to promote joined research activity under MARE project, five partner institutions including University of Natural Resources and Environment Ho Chi Minh City HCM (HCMUNRE), Vietnam Maritime University (VMU), Can Tho University (CTU), Center for Marine Life Conservation and Community Development (MCD), and Institute of Oceanography (VNIO) have executed a project of e-book compilation, serving as an reference materials for MARE courses. The first meeting of e-book compilation under MARE project was carried out in Hochiminh City in December 2022. This has place important mile stones of the project, setting up detailed plan to compile a completed book, assigning tasks for each partner, and determining the title as well as main contents of the e-book.

On 18th February 2023, Vietnam Maritime University was honored to hold “The 2nd E-book meeting under MARE project” at VMU campus. Representatives of five institutions have come to join the meeting, report their progress so far and demonstrate high spirit of academic research and knowledge sharing. All members of the e-book compilation committee took turns presenting the content that the e-book composing team had studied and edited in accordance to the conclusions of the first meeting, followed by an open discussion session with fair and transparent contribution to develop a qualified e-book. The 2nd e-book meeting has reached important outcomes, including the adjustments proposed in the previous meeting were taken into account and implemented by members; the content of chapters and sections has been rearranged reasonably, avoiding duplication; figures used in the e-book have been updated and consistent; the references for e-book composing have been agreed and shared among partner institutions.

The e-book compilation under MARE project has further contributed to promote the joined research activities among Vietnamese MARE partners. This is a precious opportunities for VMU to exchange knowledge and information with other partners and to tighten the MARE network in Vietnam in the hope foster more and more meaningful academic activities in the near future.
